Walking Research

Here's a space for participants to share their experiences walking.

Assignment 1:
From Friday, May 13 - Friday, May 27, record the number of steps you take each day
and journal about your experience walking in your home neighborhood / area.

Lame Deer in Late April . . .

The photos below are some shots that I took while visiting Lame Deer in late April to organize this year's program.

I drove from Seattle to Lame Deer after flying in from Taipei (I am studying in Taiwan this semester), and stayed through the 2005 Youth Pow Wow.

Beyond working on program logistics with the gang, I was honored to be "adopted" into the tribe by my good friend and 2nd mom, Emma Harris - who is also participating in this epic adventure
this summer.

Our work together dates back to 1997, when we were both working on a project of National 4-H Council. This will be our 3rd year coordinating a youth delegation on an international exchange - hope it is the charm!

Welcome!

Welcome to the blog for the HORIZONS project 2005 program - www.cheyennehorizons.org!

This is our/my first attempt at "blogging," so sorry if what I/we post is corny. We'll be attempting to keep the blog going throughout our travel in the U. S. and abroad this summer.

We also hope to use the blog as a space to post our research related to how travel impacts our walking habits, and the information we gain about the "walkability" of different communities, based on where we visit.

For most of us, this is our first time traveling so extensively in the U. S. and overseas, and also our first work with digital documentation. I hope that you will add to the dialogue that we initiate here with your posts and emails. Thanks for checking in and being a part of our adventure!
